T1 Internet services come in many different packages. The
costs may vary depending on the packages and offers that is
provided by the ISP. There are two standard packages available
to the consumer by most ISPs. They are “burstable”
T1 lines and “dedicated” T1 lines. Burstable T1
lines do not give you the full amount of bandwidth, because
either it is capped and shared with other consumers, or the
facilities are not capable of guarantying the speed of transfer
due to poor peering or poor bandwidth qualities. Dedicated
T1 lines usually give you a 1:1 ratio of bandwidth meaning
it is not shared with other consumers. However, you MUST read
the fine print. Some ISPs may offer “dedicated”
T1 lines, but do NOT guarantee the speeds they offer you.
This may be, also due to poor bandwidth qualities and poor
peering capabilities of their facilities.
